This may be the best way to attend the International Consumer Electronics Show ever. I attended virtually, in the comfort of my home office, with no $1,500 airfares, no Airport parking or check-in hassles, no $500/night hotel rip-offs, no waiting in long cab lines, no sore feet, on-the-go snacks, no gambling losses, and … get this… no credit card debt.
I’ve attended either COMDEX or CES in Las Vegas for over 20 years now, and I had hoped to be there again this year but couldn’t justify the cost. So, I stayed home and monitored everything online.
What follows is my “trip report” summary, which is based on my own analysis, as well as that of hundreds of other analysts. You’ll see that I’ve included links to many online video demos and presentations. Watching them is almost like being there, and in many ways better.
CES conference sessions being together industry experts as speakers on hot topics, but since I couldn’t attend in person, I’ll just order recordings to listen to later in the car. I used to do this to resolve conflicts with meetings or other sessions or just to give me more time on the show floor to see the demos, but this year it’s because I stayed home.
